How Eating Bacteria Can Help You Fight The Flu Naturally By Boosting Your Immune System
If that wasn't enough, this bacteria will also help you lose weight and utterly annihilate skin rashes like eczema
If you’re like many Americans, then you’re doing okay when it comes to your health. You get sick occasionally, and could stand to lose a few pounds. Unfortunately, most Americans won’t get to lose those extra pounds, or avoid getting sick when everybody else is. But, you know a few people just like that. They never seem to get sick, and manage to stay skinny, even though they eat just like you do for the most part.
It’s kind of depressing isn’t it? You would think that in this day in age we would have come up with a solution for all of these little annoying problems by now. You would think that by now most people would be able to eat a fairly healthy diet, and still not have to worry about being fat. You would think that by now, with all those cleaning products, you wouldn’t have to worry about getting super sick during the flu season.
But, what if I told you that there is a solution to this problem, and it’s a lot older than you think. You see, sometimes with all these “technological advancements”, sometimes we overlook simple solutions to some of lives everyday problems. So, what I’m going to do is introduce you to the wonderful world of probiotics.
A probiotic solution
A couple of decades ago, a few scientists started to notice that people who were eating a lot of fermented foods, weren’t getting sick as much, and weren’t nearly as fat. They were looking at this historically. They then started to wonder why? Why would eating fermented food allow people to not get sick as much, and stay healthy for the most part. Even when they didn’t have the amount of advanced medicine that we do today. The answer seems to be the good bacteria that live inside you, or probiotics.
What are probiotics?
Probiotics are actual living bacteria that live inside you, in your gut. You actually have both good and bad bacteria inside your gut, but the good bacteria are called probiotics, because they have benefits for your health. It’s important to know that there are different kinds of probiotics, or rather strains of the good bacteria, and they each can have different effects on your health.
Inside your gut, you should have over 80% good bacteria and less than 20% bad bacteria, but most people these days do not have near that amount. When you don't have enough good bacteria, you tend to see an increase of these things:
- Weight gain
- Lack of energy
- Bloating
- Heartburn
- Common colds
- Being easily annoyed
- Diarrhea
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome
- Yeast Infections
And a whole other host of small, but generally annoying problems. When your body has enough good bacteria, or probiotics, a lot of these problems either go away entirely, or won’t happen as much.
Where can I get some?
By this point, you’re probably wondering where you can get probiotics. Well, as I was talking about earlier, the good bacteria occurs naturally in fermented foods (such as yogurt or sauerkraut), which historically, is how people have been getting their probiotics.
But, the problem with this is that some people don’t like fermented foods, and it’s extremely hard to determine just how many good bacteria you are getting when you eat fermented foods. You see, whenever you digest probiotics, they have to go through your stomach to get to your gut, which is where they work their magic. Along the way, many of the good bacteria will get killed off, so unless you know about how many bacteria you’re getting, it’s hard to tell if they will even make it to your gut.
This is why, it’s generally recommended that you take your probiotics in a pill form. However, just don’t go out and buy any kind of probiotic that’s been bottled up now. Because you’re dealing with live bacteria, buying probiotics can be sort of tricky. But, I’m going to clear that up for you in a quick minute.
How to Choose the Right Probiotic
The first (and the most important) thing you want to look for when you go to buy a probiotic is the number of good bacteria or CFUs is in the product. If the number isn’t listed, or is less than 100 million, don’t buy the probiotic. Ever. Studies have shown that when you have less than 100 million CFUs of good bacteria, the chances of enough of the good bacteria making it to your gut to work their magic, are so slim, it’s not even worth trying.
This is why you want to make sure that the probiotic you buy has at least 100 million CFUs of good bacteria in it, but preferably a billion or more.
The second thing you want to make sure of is that your probiotic has multiple strains of good bacteria in it. Remember earlier how I was talking about that different strains of good bacteria have different beneficial effects associated with them? Well, if you were to buy probiotic with only one strain of good bacteria in it, then you could not get the benefits that you were looking for, and think that probiotics weren’t working. When, in fact, you unfortunately just bought a probiotic with the wrong strain of good bacteria in it.
Fortunately, this is easily avoidable by just simply remembering to buy a probiotic with multiple strains of bacteria inside it. Simply check the label and if it doesn’t have more than two or three strains of good bacteria in it, then don’t buy.
If you want to try out a high quality probiotic, one that has over 1 billion CFUS and multiple strains of bacteria, then keep reading…
