Probiotic Supplements: Where Does Your Probiotic Supplement Rank?

 

The kind of probiotic supplement that you take makes a big difference in how effective your immune system and digestive system is. There are many different probiotic supplements out there, and a lot of them are better than others. I've gone over the qualities that your best probiotic supplement should have here, but I wanted to clarify that more with some examples.

A lot of probiotics have many weird storage requirements and can be a hassle to deal with. Also, it's fairly cheap costing right around twenty dollars. If you were just walking into the store and had to deal with a bunch of different probiotics, you would walk away from the experience having a pretty do probiotic, not the best, but certainly not the worst supplement you could buy.

Better Probiotic Supplement: Evora Plus Probiotics for Oral Care

They have a special use, which I really like, and never really thought about until I came across them. Evora Plus Probiotics are for your mouth. They keep your breath fresh and your mouth clean, and while they a little expensive for just a "breath mint", it is basically the only probiotic breath mint on the market, and works like magic. It goes beyond killing off bad breath and even helps keep your mouth healthy due to the probiotics. Most mouth washes just kill off all the bacteria, including the good ones.

Best Probiotic Supplement: Probiotic Immune Boost

probioticbottle2 The reason I really enjoy this supplement is because while it is more of your "average" probiotic, there are a few things that set it a part. The first is that it has 6 Billion CFUs of bacteria, which, is one of the main things to look for in a probiotic supplement. The amount of bacteria, which I have said here. Another thing this probiotic supplement has is multiple strains of bacteria, which is also a good sign. But, the thing I like most about this supplement is that you can try it for free. This is especially good because they give you about a months supply, which if you're eating healthy and just need some probiotics to fix up a skin condition or want to boost your digestive system, is plenty. You wouldn't even need to spend a dime to get a high quality probiotic. Which is why I think Probiotic Immune Boost is one of the best probiotic suplements around.

It seems more and more people are taking notice of the all the bacteria that live inside your gut. A new article over at Time.com is talking about the bacteria in your gut being linked to obesity. Here are some interesting excerpts…

“If you have ever fought the battle of the bulge, then you are all too familiar with its key players: diet, exercise and your genes. The less you move (calories out) and the more you eat (calories in), the more fat you gain — an equation that may be heavily influenced by your particular genes. But scientists have long known that these three factors do not adequately explain every case of obesity, and now researchers are discovering increasingly convincing evidence of another important contributor to body weight, one that until recently has been almost completely ignored: the bacteria that live in your gut.

That diversity and its impact came into plain view when the researchers started experimenting with the rodents' diet. When one group of mice was fed a typical Western diet, high in fat and sugars, they tended to gain weight and grow more Firmicutes gut bacteria and fewer Bacteroidetes. In mice given a low-fat plant-based chow, the distribution of the two groups of bugs flipped and the animals remained lean. It's not clear whether the balance of gut bugs causes weight gain or is a result of it, but the findings suggest that a "gut profile" could potentially serve as a diagnostic tool for identifying who might have a propensity for obesity. If, for instance, your gut environment contains a preponderance of Firmicutes, then your body may be predisposed to digest calories in a way that leads to greater fat storage. In fact, in Gordon's earlier work with identical twins of different weights, he found that the obese twin tended to have more Firmicutes colonies than the leaner one.

Gordon also found in his mouse populations that changing the animals' diet caused a dramatic and rapid shift in the population of bacteria in their gut. Switching a mouse from low-fat plant chow to a high-fat Western diet resulted in an explosion of Firmicutes in less than a day.”

People are finding out that losing weight isn’t just all about how much (or little) you eat. High Protein Low Fat Foods

In the coming days, I'm going to start posting about foods that have tons of protein, but nearly no fat. This is especially for those of you out there who are trying to lose weight (who isn't these days?) and want to keep it off. Protein (and fiber too) fills you up, and stops you from filling hungry throughout the day.

Most people think that they can only get protein from red meats, chicken, drinking horrible tasting protein drinks, or eating horrible tasting protein bars. This could never be further from the truth. Over the next couple of days, I'm going to show you how you can get all the protein you need, without having to rely on all the above.

It's especially important to make sure you are getting your protein from different sources for your body to use it all effectively. So keep checking up over the next few days to find out some alternative sources of protein that you can use to get all the protein you need.
